Adam Matschulat
Adam Matschulat is a music composer and sound designer based between the UK and the Balearic Islands. His diverse output of sound works have included composing for film, immersive theatre, contemporary dance, video-games, sound installations, electroacoustic composition, musique concrete, dream pop, vgm and structural noise music. He has worked under a number of monikers, but his first EP under his own full name ‘Through the Cracks’ was released on Cafe OTO’s TakuRoku (2021). His debut LP ‘Formosa’ was released on 24th March 2023 on Calling Cards Publishing.
Most recently he has been awarded a residency at Fundació ACA (2024), Snape Maltings through Britten Pears Arts Foundation (2023) and the Arts Council DYCP funding to develop his compositional skills under the tutelage of pianist Alexander Hawkins (2023/2024). He also has been commissioned by Edinburgh University to compose an electroacoustic piece for a project in collaboration with artist researcher Dr. Rebecca Collins and the science department in UAM (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) as part of a research project on dark matter observation titled Energies not Forms not Figures (2022/2023). His sound work has had international radio play on radio shows including BBC Radio 3 Late Junction, NTS, Resonance Extra, Ars Sonora & La casa del Sonido on Radio Nacional Clasica in Spain, LYL Radio in Switzerland, FADE radio in Athens, and others.
Matschulat is currently developing Arguments, a new body of work in four parts for viola and cello.
